FBLA is committed to providing students with meaningful and relevant competitive event experiences. We recognize that some current exams contain outdated questions, particularly in rapidly evolving areas such as technology and computer science.
FBLA is currently in a transition phase to modernize our competitive event offerings. Hereโs what you can expect:
- New Competencies: Over the next few years (2025โ2029), FBLA will roll out updated competencies across all competitive events. These new standards are designed to better reflect current industry practices, technology trends, and academic expectations. We are proud to share that FBLA has partnered with MBA Research, a consortium of 25+ state education departments and other educational organizations, to guide this important work. Additionally, competencies are being reviewed by key stakeholders, including local chapter advisers, state leaders, and national leadership teams, to ensure they meet the diverse needs of our members.
- Updated Tests: Following the release of new competencies, we will begin a cycle of updating and reviewing test questions to align with these new standards. This includes removing outdated content and ensuring that all questions are accurate, current, and rigorous.
- Ongoing Review Process: Once the new system is in place, FBLA will conduct regular reviews of both competencies and test questions on an approximate five year cycle. This ensures our competitive events remain timely and responsive to changes in various career fields.
While this transition is underway, students may still encounter older material during the current competitions at the local, state, and national levels. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we make these important improvements.
FBLA remains committed to creating competitive events that truly prepare students for the future.
